Building Lasting Change in Uganda
Word In Deed Ministries believes the Gospel is both spoken and lived. For decades, we've partnered with local pastors, churches, and community leaders in Uganda to meet spiritual and physical needs side by side , because caring for a community's soul and its livelihood are not separate callings.
Since 2025, we've adopted a "full gospel" approach: roughly 70% diaconal work (meeting immediate needs) and 30% direct job creation, moving communities from dependency toward self-sufficiency.
Vocational School
Building Toward Self-Sufficiency
We currently have the blueprints and the land secured, and are building steadily as funding arrives.
The school will sit approximately 15 miles from Kampala, next to a secondary school that's been serving students for a decade, and a church WID built 20 years ago, placing it right at the heart of a community we've walked alongside for years.
Our vision is a state-of-the-art facility offering trade training for young people, with a goal of attracting retired international teachers to lead these programs and pass on real-world skills.

Wells & Clean Water
Meeting one of the most urgent needs.
Access to clean water remains one of the most urgent needs in the communities we serve. Alongside our church-planting work, water initiatives ensure that as communities grow spiritually, they also gain access to basic health necessities.
Current Reach
We are active in 33 villages.
The Need
Families currently spend 2–3 hours daily fetching water. Most villages require at least two wells.
Costs
- $5,000 per standard village well.
- $10,000–$20,000 for high-capacity wells serving schools of 250+ children.
Impact
We have recently installed several wells and will have photos of new installations soon.
Solar Street Lights
Safety after dark, for villages still living without it.
Safety after dark is a serious concern in many of the villages we serve. In areas without lighting, residents have lost their lives in dangerous, unlit areas, and property theft at night is common.
Word InDeed is partnering with local pastors and community leaders, including Pastor Kaggwa Mike and local government officials, to bring solar street lighting to over 33 villages currently without it. This is one of our most urgent active projects.
The need:
- 33+ villages identified as needing lighting
- $250 funds one solar light, including accessories and installation
- No lights installed yet. This project is fully in the funding stage
Jobs & Generational Transformation
The heart of where WID is headed next.
For 46 years, Pastor Stephen's own painting company has provided steady employment in Uganda, yet the average annual income in the communities we serve remains just $750 a year. In 2026, WID formed an advisory board of seven business professionals to help us think strategically about diaconal work and long-term job creation.

Sewing Businesses
Sewing machines distributed this year at $100 each, helping locals start their own businesses.
Infrastructure & Health
Roofs, windows, and doors for local churches, along with funding for critical surgeries for those unable to afford basic medical care.
What's Next
Land, equipment, and a livable wage.
Many families in our partner communities own land that sits underutilized because it's worked entirely by hand. WID is developing a plan to rent this land, provide upfront payments to farmers, and introduce modern equipment, increasing production and raising annual incomes from $750 to a minimum of $3,600.
To make this possible, we're raising funds for:
- A tractor
- A maize mill
- Transport vehicles
These investments move us closer to true self-sufficiency, not just meeting today's needs, but building an economy that sustains the next generation.
