Shane Victorino helps boost WID funds!
Last month’s fundraiser featuring Phillies World Series champion Shane Victorino was a sold-out success. Many thanks to our fans and his who came out to support the ministry. Our ticket holders were treated to a donated meal by China Garden in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, and an encouraging talk by Shane, as well as time for autographs and a question and answer session.  A definite homerun for the ministry!

Grant sustains efforts in Ntenjeru
We are very thankful for a recent grant from the Vista Hermosa Foundation which will allow WID to move forward on projects in Ntenjeru! The Vista Hermosa Foundation was established as a private family foundation to support local initiatives for families residing in the Vista Hermosa community as well as to reach out to and partner with underserved communities around the worldinflatable water slides canada. To date, partners have been supported in over 30 countries, including Mexico, India, Honduras, Colombia, Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Chad, Haiti, Jamaica, Romania, and the United States.

Email from Stacy DeMoss, college student on summer missions trip to Uganda, to her family:
dad, mom, and matt!!! I love you all so much and I miss you!! Â I am sorry for the lack of email, but I have not had access until now!! God’s hand has been completely on this trip so far!! We have seen and experienced so many things in Lira! Â I saw a baby be delivered deep within the village! Â We got to tell about 1000 people about HIV prevention and how to live with it once you are positive. Â We also got to encourage them and tell them about the greatest healer of all, Jesus! Â It was an amazing experience filled with new friendships! Â It was hard to leave and SO many people really want to meet my parents! Â Once of my newest friends, Bonny, has so much insight and really desires to grow especially in the area of financial knowledge. Â I told him how much you know and he really wants to meet you! Â Anyway, it was a greatttt experience and I cannot wait to share more! Â We are now in Kampala and, of course, everyone is asking about you all! Â They love you very much! Â Today we are heading to Lito beach because it is Kaci’s birthday!! Please keep praying for us that we will enjoy relaxing for a few days and then begin ministryInflatable Water Park Games! The Dream, by Steve DeMoss
The Dream
“One sick person at a time; one person without Christ at a time; one village at a time†(Steve DeMoss circa 1979)
A dream sparked in 1979 is now being cast forth in 2010 to as many who will listen and to as many who will hear the call. Steve’s dream is a five-year, community-based plan. It consists of family units who are committed to living in a developing country for several years, willing to use their skills and gifts in partnership with local communities to bolster the worldwide church. This is no small undertaking, for the vision is unconventional, innovative, and delves into uncharted waters.hire inflatable human hamster ball
Steve’s vision and dream for community development is a combination of Winston Churchill’s “never give up” determination, Buzz Light Year’s bold proclamation to push the limits “to infinity and beyond…” and Star Trek’s mission to “boldly go where no man has gone before.” So simple, but yet effective, his vision is to take five or more families to a community in Uganda to live for an extended period of time, so they can walk and work side-by-side with a target community. This type of personal interaction clearly means living out the mission of Word In Deed Ministries in hands-on and practical ways.
Church planting, encouraging and helping new businesses startup, building a clinic, and building a primary and secondary school are just a sampling of the long range plan. The goal would be to have key leaders and individuals in the community take over the coordinating and running of these institutions within several years. The dream is that in a short span of time, a church of 400-500 energized men and women would be planted. These individuals and families will be experiencing the full gospel in preaching the word and in deeds, as seen in a thriving school and improved health care via the clinic. Businesses will thrive with the satisfaction of individuals knowing they are able to support their families. In essence, the 5+ families transplanted from America will work themselves out of a “job†and remain only as consultants once training is completed and the main foundations of the community (church, school, clinic, and small businesses) are established.
But this is only the tip of the iceberg. The success of the community will have ripple effects. Other communities within the target community area will hear of the holistic and cooperative relationship and seek to implement this vision in their communities and perhaps even other developing countries. The community will be a model of how developing nations can partner with developed nations to establish a coordinated and cooperative system to ensure that those living in developing countries feel heard, understood, and validated. The culture of the communities will remain intact, as these communities are transformed as a result of the gospel coming to life in practical ways.disney fairies 5 in 1 combo

The Many Faces of Motherhood, Mother’s Day 2010
Language and culture are not barriers for mothers seeking to love mothers. When we see a mother working for pennies all day long with a child at her feet, or a mother holding a baby we know has seen more despair than we have in his few year of life, we are moved to compassion at the heart of our being. Every area of our ministry will ultimately touch mothers:  improvements in health care and housing mean longer lives;  Christian fellowship and vocational skills instill hope in lives; and food and clean water sustain life. Perhaps because of you, a mother and daughter are sleeping under a mosquito net tonight. Or tomorrow, a first-born son will sit safely inside schoolbounce slide toddler for sale. Or a mother whose face has been burned beyond recognition will learn to love herself again so that she can support her daughter someday. Mothers across the globe are at once exquisitely unique and profoundly alike. May God bless you and the mothers in your life this Mother’s Day.

Dear Brother Steve,
Receive my New Year greetings in Jesus name. I hope this is a blessed, New Year with full of love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Concerning the brother whom the Word In Deed Ministry supported with $1000, he did some farming on maize and harvested towards the end of last year. There was some drought im my country last year, especially in the region where his farm is located. However, he was able to harvest enough sacks worth about Ksh120,000 ( $1400). From the investment of 75,000 Kenya Shillings ($1000) that was a reasonable reap but not maximum. Our agreement with him was that he should divide half of the profit he makes and offer it directly to Cana Children’s Home in form of cash or grains. The profit he made in this case was $500 dollars and he gave $250 to Cana Children’s Home during the Christmas season. It was a blessing for them during Christmas season.
The rest of the income is to be put back into more farming this year. Our request to you was that you may support us to fund about 10 more farmers with the same amount each so that they can be in a position to support Cana Children’s Home better. We had even identified the farmers and the location of farming in Western(Kitale) Kenya region which has enough rainfall all year round. Planting season is normally between February and April.
