Word in Deed ministries recently stepped out of Africa and into the heart of India to partner with New Way for the Needy, a non-profit ministry providing medical assistance, education and housing for adults, orphans and other children who have been afflicted by leprosy and consequently abandoned by their families. Like WID, New Way was launched in the 1980s by two individuals responding to God’s command to bear one another’s burdens and care for the widows, orphans and sick among us. Here, New Way workers compassionately serve these ostracized victims whose limbs have been ravished by disease. Specially-designed sandals allow afflicted individuals to experience comfort, mobility and dignity in their daily lives. Founder Pastor Hanoch writes, “By God’s grace and as a result of your prayers, I am thankful for your compassion.”
