Resource Center
We are praying for God’s provision and blessings to build the Ntenjeru Community Resource Center. This multi-purpose campus will be intentionally utilized for ministry and missions in the Mukono District of Uganda.
What is the Community Resource Center?
This is is a God-inspired and God-directed project. Our Ugandan partners and the church leaders have asked that Word InDeed Ministries pursue the 10-Villages and 10-Churches vision of Pastor Kefa Sempangi’s. In keeping with that vision, the Community Resource Center will provide a home base for things like: (1) future ministry training, pastoral care (retreats) and educational seminars; (2) Community outreach projects and eduction like Farming God’s Way  (http://www.farming-gods-way.org/home.htm); (3) Missionary Compound and Dormitory to house both short and long term missionaries so we can be living in the communities we are serving. Currently, because there is a lack of housing to rent, we travel from the cities of Mukono or Kampala, which varies from one to three hours of travel time depending on which villages we are doing ministry. Having housing for our missionary teams will not only increase the community outreach time we have “on the ground” during mission trips, but will allow for deeper relationship building and evangelism with the Ugandan children and families we have come to know and love.
We have organized the development into three phases, and phase one which includes a managers house and latrine has been completed (October, 2017). Phase Two consists of the missionary residence, providing housing for in-country Word inDeed staff and long-term missionaries a place to call home when they commit to serve for extended periods of time. We have designed the housing to be family-friendly so missionaries who have children can feel comfortable with the remote location and more traditional American ‘comforts’ like solar power, access to water (the high production well has been drilled), and opportunity to make roots in the local neighborhood. Phase Three consists of the Missionary Dormitory, Meeting Hall, Block Latrines and Service Kitchen. We pray that this phase can expand our evangelistic outreach beyond the 10-Villages, so we can offer ministry and missions invitations globally.
How can you help?
There are so many needs in Africa. Clean water, food, medical care are all daily challenges that citizens in Uganda have to struggle with. We firmly believe that this Community Resource Center can be a gateway to God’s divine purpose and design to make a clear and positive change in the future of these disenfranchised people. Their own government has forgotten about them. These remote villages still do not have access to electricity. In our 21st Century, this should be a resource, like clean water, that no person should be without.
Fundraising for ‘feel good’ projects like boreholes for water and medical supplies for our mission trips is not too difficult. Most people can relate to these basic needs and show that in their generosity. Building foundations, construction costs for structures, and infrastructure (roads, clearing land, etc.) is not so popular or recognized as “important”. Our attempt to fund this project through large foundations and grant writing proposals has also not been very successful. Many specifically state they will not fund construction costs. It has taken 6-years to raise enough funds to complete the first phase of the Resource Center project. We are trusting in God’s timing and provision, but are seeking financial partners to come along side us to make this God-sized vision a very definitive reality in the next 5 years. We have a five year plan! Can you join us and help this vision turn into a reality?
