HIV/AIDS Support in the Villages of Mukono District

Tuesday, February 9th, 2016

With the support of private donors, WID has been able to hire a Ugandan counselor to travel back into the remote villages and jungle areas surrounding Lake Victoria to speak with the children and families that have been ravaged by the HIV/Aids epidemic. This young woman was someone I met during our first visit to Uganda in 2012.  She was a single, pregnant woman, trying to make positive changes in her life.  She worked hard to receive her education in counseling and graduated this year, 2016.  Her heart has been to go into these villages where she counsels young girls and boys about protecting themselves from being another statistic of the disease that has orphaned so many in this country.

Below is a summary from recent visits to the schools and surrounding villages where she has gone to share the love of Christ with these children and families.

Dear Word indeed ministries, much greetings from Ntanzi community, i would like to report that some families i visited are happy of the upper hand from the church and school.
I had interaction with the parents ,guardians, and the children as well i found out that some parents with many children hoped to take some children to their relatives in such long holy days , the female parents are more responsible besides the fact that some lost their husbands i even found some children at church who refused to go for holy days and decided to stay at church and Micheal does a great job to care and feed them yet they don,t pay in holy days for a stay when i was talking to Micheal he told me that some children are total orphans so they has no fair home to go for holy days , therefore instead of moving up and down he allowed them to stay at church.
Also i visited Ephrahim,s home but i did not find him the neighbours whose children go to Ntanzi school told me that he has gone to fetch water and i talked to them about their lives and they promised to keep in God’s ways.
Further more i visited Maama Irene’s home she is having problem with her health and told me to tell you that God bless you for all you are doing for girl Irene and she told me that she would like to be a nurse (find a letter of attachment from her). Even the other children of maama Irene promised me to be good people by resisting sin.
Please keep on praying for Edith a lady we visited in december who has five children , living with HIV/AIDS most of her children did not sit for promotion exams i went there again to check on her and take to her some items to use , she sent greetings to Beth and Linda.
Lastly there is a lady called Aisha , she is HIV positive and the husband is negative she told me the husband beats her and according to clinical report she is not adhering well on treatment.
I have planned with Teacher Micheal and Tr Resty i will be having presentations and counselling in the school in last week of this month. Micheal told me that he hopes to get more children and i heard from the community a lot of praise for Ntanzi school because of the good performance and he helped me a lot to get into children’s homes i was not so sure of the some homes’ locations.
Yours in serving the community
K J.
